人非上智，其孰无过。过而能知，可以为明；知而能改，可以跂圣①。小过不改，大恶形焉；小善能迁，大善成焉。
夫人之过无他，惰慢也，嫉妒也，邪僻也。惰慢则骄，孝敬衰焉；嫉妒则刻，灾害兴焉；邪僻则佚，节义颓焉。是数者，皆德之弊而身之殃。或有一焉，必去之如蟊媵，远之如蜂虿②。蜂虿不远则螫身，蟊媵不去则伤稼，己过不改则累德。
