何翁晓，江山人。壮拳勇，任侠，常手杀劫贱数人：以他故为乡官所侮，愤恨去，道逢奇客，口授禁方。晓不甚识字，重听，而视脉傅药辄效。乃更为县上客，褒衣危冠，侍药平昌。与予朝夕者五年，成美规阙。都无一语及私。敦然长者也。
予听狱，或笞囚过当，辄意授晓视之，无恙，而后即安。民或斗殴．相杀伤，赴庭下，辄先付晓谨护之．而徐听其讼。亭中有系人，常与钱晓，贷其药。以故五年中，县无斗伤笞系而死者。县中人莫知也。县无城，尝夜半虎伤童子，急呼予。予起燎逐虎。召晓，取巨胜膏渍墙茨中蠕虫杂药，灌童子愈。时有“十全”之名。予问之，日：“晓何能尽?然不全者不治耳。”数语予：“公廉而倨，宽而疏，某富人、某势人当为乱。”已而果然。晓常用为介介，叹日：“县人何薄福相耶!”晓初无子，故不治生产，岁焚药券者过半。
晚生子数岁，思归江山。而予亦且上戊戌计去，不能留也。一县中闻晓去，无不遮泣，愿少留者。至吏卒囚伍，成为怆然。予悲而饯以诗。晓后一过予家，老矣，犹从使琉球，治其王子妇女，应手效，国人神之。得其海药以归，市之吴，吴中士大夫多授其方焉。
