Gradually, the sounds of rains ceased. The lights began to filter into the room through the window curtain. When I opened the window, an amazing scene immediately caught my eyes: the cold cloud had vanished; the room was reflected in the remaining rain drops, swaying and glistening just like myriads of fireflies. What a clear and beautiful picture after such a lonely and cold rain!(To think that there should appear before my eyes such a beautiful sight after the miserable rain on a lonely evening.)

　　After standing by the window for a while, I felt a bit chilly. When turned round facing my room, I suddenly felt dizzy and it seemed as if everything in my room was half-concealed in the midst of lights, except the angel in the picture on the wall.(As I turned round, my eyes suddenly dazzled before the bright light and could not see things distinctly. Everything in the room was blurred by a haze of light except the angel in a picture on the wall.) With flowers in arms and wings on back, the angel in white was smiling on me. (The angel in white was smiling on me with a bunch of flowers in his arms, his wings flapping.)

　　“It seems like a familiar smile. I saw it when …” Before I know, I had sat down into a chair by the window, lost in musing( meditation).

　　Slowly, my mind turned back to an impression(a scene) of five years ago. (A scene of five years ago slowly unveiled before my eyes.) There appeared a long ancient road with slippery mud left by donkey’s feet; The ditch water in field was murmuring; The green trees near the village were veiled by a haze of misty smoke; And the bow-like crescent was resting on the top of the trees.( hanging on the tips of the trees.) While walking along the road, I felt that there seemed a little boy near me, with something white in his arms. My donkey passed by and I happened to look back, there—a bunch of flowers in his arms, with bare feet, the little boy was smiling on me. (As I passed along, I somewhat sensed the presence of a child by the roadside carrying something white in his arms. 　　“It seems that I have met such a smile somewhere” I thought in silence.(“I seem to have seen the same smile somewhere before!” I was thinking to myself.)

　　Another scene was unfolded before my eyes. It was ten years ago. Rain water was falling drop by drop onto my clothes from the eaves of a thatched cottage. And the water bubbles near the earthen doorstep were whirling about. The wheat fields and grape trellises in front of the cottage were washed into fresh yellow-green by the rain water. ( Washed by the rain, the wheat fields and grape trellises in front of the cottage door presented a picturesque scene of vivid yellow and tender green.) After a while it cleared up and I walked down the slope in a haste, happened to see the moon rising high above the sea when it occurred to me that I had left something behind. I stopped and turned around—there, the old lady, owner of the thatched cottage, was smiling on me, leaning against the door, a bunch of flowers in her arms.

　　The three subtle smiles, drifting in the air towards each other like gossamer, became interwoven.

　　At this moment, my mind became quite clear and calm. I felt as if I were in a heavenly environment or in my hometown. The three smiles in front of my eyes were blurred and merged into a harmonious love.
